WHAT TO EXPECT

A new health concern. An ongoing condition. A prescription care plan.

Our prescribing care extends beyond short-term concerns. Pharmacists with Additional Prescribing Authorization can assess acute health needs and initiate or manage medication therapy for ongoing conditions when appropriate. We review your symptoms, health history, medicines and monitoring needs, then discuss treatment, prescribing or referral. Care is individualized to your situation and the pharmacist’s scope and competence. You can request an assessment from home and ask about virtual care where appropriate.

New or short-term health concerns

Discuss concerns such as allergies, skin conditions, heartburn or urinary symptoms. Use the existing condition assessment form for a listed concern; the pharmacist determines whether treatment, a prescription or referral is appropriate.

Ongoing & chronic health conditions

Discuss medication care for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure or asthma. Choose Medication Review or Ask a Pharmacist in the consultation form for assessment, treatment questions and appropriate follow-up.

Starting, adjusting or renewing treatment

Our prescribing pharmacists can review whether to initiate, adapt, renew or change medication therapy when the assessment and practice requirements are met. Bring your medication list and relevant health records.

Prescription care from home

Request prescription care from the comfort of home. Virtual assessments are available where appropriate; your pharmacist confirms whether virtual care is suitable or an in-person visit is needed. Initial prescribing generally requires an in-person assessment or a current professional relationship established through previous in-person care. Once your prescription is ready, we can arrange free delivery in Devon and anywhere in Edmonton, usually within one business day, pending availability; same-day delivery may be possible for earlier requests.

A booking request does not guarantee a prescription. A pharmacist with Additional Prescribing Authorization must meet Alberta’s assessment requirements. For a medical emergency, call 911; for non-emergency health advice, call 811.

Which next step fits your needs?

For a new concern listed in the assessment form, use the condition route. For ongoing care or a concern not listed, choose Medication Review or Ask a Pharmacist in the consultation form.

GOOD QUESTIONS

A little more clarity.

Here are a few things to know before getting started.

All booking options →
Is your prescribing care limited to short-term conditions?

No. Pharmacists with Additional Prescribing Authorization can prescribe at initial access and manage ongoing medication care when appropriate. Assessment, competence, professional standards and any need for referral determine what care can be provided.

Which booking form should I choose?

For a new concern listed in the condition assessment form, choose Book a new concern. For an ongoing condition, medication plan or a concern not listed, choose Book ongoing care and select Medication Review or Ask a Pharmacist. The form itself does not diagnose your condition.

Can I have a virtual assessment?

Request prescription care from the comfort of home. Virtual assessments are available where appropriate; your pharmacist confirms whether virtual care is suitable or an in-person visit is needed. Initial prescribing generally requires an in-person assessment or a current professional relationship established through previous in-person care.

Can every condition be treated or prescribed for here?

Some health concerns require further examination, tests, another prescriber or urgent medical care. A prescription is provided only when clinically and legally appropriate. For a medical emergency call 911; for non-emergency health advice in Alberta call 811.
